Visitor Information

Lord and Lady Salisbury are delighted to welcome you to their home and hope that you enjoy your visit.

The 2010 visitor season runs from Saturday 3rd April until the end of September. The House, Park and Garden is closed on Mondays (except bank holidays) and Tuesdays. In August the park and Garden is open every day.

There is a 'free flow arrangement' where visitors are able to view the house at their own speed. Guides are stationed in most of the rooms and are happy to answer questions from visitors. There are guided tours available from time to time should you wish to join a tour. We will be introducing audio tours in 2010. During major events the normal opening arrangements may not apply. Please click on the Opening Times and Admission Prices for further details.

Dogs are welcome in the park but not in the garden or children's play area. They should be kept under tight control and ,where necessary or when requested, on a lead.

The inside of the Old Palace can only be seen from the viewing bay in the central tower. When a private function is taking place the tower will be closed. Visitors who particularly wish to see the inside are advised to telephone or email beforehand to check availability.

Very occasionally the house is closed during the published opening hours for a private function or for filming. We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may cause. Any such events will be published on this page.

Planned closures: The house is often used for filming, although the garden, park, restaurant & gift shop will be open as advertised.
