Art in Clay showcases some of the finest ceramics currently being made by individual makers in the UK and Europe. This outdoor summer event held in marquees in the beautiful parklands of Hatfield House hosts over 200 exhibitors, including a full programme of talks & demonstrations and a Clay Creation Zone to fire your imagination.

What’s On

  • Full programme of ceramic talks and demonstrations
  • Clay Creation Zone to fire both children and adults imagination as they can choose to throw a pot on a potter’s wheel or make a creation by hand while under the guidance of an experienced potter.
  • Clay Challenge for visitors to have a go inspired by the Great Pottery Throw Down contestants who will be on hand to help too.
  • Exhibitor Awards that recognise both up and coming students as well as peers

The aim of Art in Clay is to bring a wide range of ceramics and pottery to a new audience as well as the knowing collectors. It is amazing what can be made from clay. There are pots to use in the kitchen and garden, exhibited alongside amazing sculptures and artwork that is equally at home in a top London gallery. It’s a special experience to be able to buy from the artist who has made the work; to find out about their passions and influences and really discover how your pot came into being. The makers range from young imaginative students and relative newcomers to leading National and International makers. Some of the best ideas for ceramics in interior and garden design will be on display for you to admire and buy

Art in Clay opens its doors on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th August from 10am to 5.30pm, and on Sunday 19th from 10am to 5pm.
