11 July, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Everybody loves Ernest. In fact, Cecily and Gwendolen are both engaged to Ernest! The only trouble is, Ernest doesn’t exist. Or does he…? This energetic and musical production from the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons’ infuses Wilde’s witty words with snappy new songs and frantically funny physical theatre to give this perennially popular play a hilarious contemporary twist!

Bring a low back chair and a picnic and spend a glorious summer’s evening watching this funny  production of one of Oscar Wilde’s best plays. Performed in the open air, music and dance.

The Importance of being Earnest will start at 6:30pm, attendees can enter the event site at 5:30pm in order to pick their viewing spot, there is no reserved seating.

Ticket holders will be able to enter the Park in their vehicles via Station Lodge (AL9 5AE) from 5:30pm on Wednesday 11th July in order to park closer to the Theatre site. Station Lodge usually acts as just a pedestrian entrance for the Estate, but for this performance it will be accepting vehicles.

Anyone with advanced tickets wishing to spend the day here and therefore arriving before 5:30pm will be directed to park in our normal visitor car park (AL9 5HX) and walk to the event site which is approximately a 15 minute walk. Alternatively vehicles can drive round and enter via Station Lodge after 5:30pm to park closer to the event site.

Drop off and Disabled Parking is available closer to the site, however, there is still a very short walk over the grass from here.

All parking is free of charge. Please click here to view details on how to find us

The event site is located in a naturally shaped grass bowl in the grounds of Hatfield House known as the Elephant Dell. This location is about a 2 or 3 minute walk across grass, from the event car park which will be accessed through Station Lodge on the day.

The nearest toilets are located in Stable Yard which is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the Elephant Dell.  Please click here to view our Estate & Facilities map

Anyone wishing to purchase tickets on the day, if still available, can do so at one of the usual ticket kiosks or at the event site from 5:30pm onwards.
