Northanger Abbey

Thursday, December 06, 2012

"A remarkably faithful adaptation of this Austen classic, Northanger Abbey will transport you into a world of beautiful paper puppets and gothic romance."

"I was completely mesmerised by this enchanting production." Joanna Lumley

Proving that puppetry is certainly not just for children, this unique version of Northanger Abbey is guaranteed to make you smile and gaze in wonder. A vintage trunk will transform from a carriage to a theatre right before your eyes in a production that stretches the imagination and brings out every last drop of Austen's wit, playfulness and humour.

Noel Byrne and Antonia Christophers' previous acting credits include the BBC's Dr Who and The Hour, HBO's award winning series, Game of Thrones, and original work for the Royal Court Theatre, London and Contact Theatre, Manchester. They formed Box Tale Soup from a desire to create fresh and original adaptations of classic works.

"You could have heard a pin drop in the audience: we were hanging on every word and every character, and the strange thing about the puppets is how completely real they become." Joanna Lumley

"Box Tale Soup have conjured Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey out of a suitcase. With a start like this I expect them to go from strength to strength. Two multi-skilled performers of great virtuosity, charm and resourcefulness." Michael Pennington

Northanger Abbey runs at 1hr 15mins with no interval. For further information, please visit Box Tale Soup Theatre Company website - www.boxtalesoup.co.uk
