Family History

If you believe that your ancestors may have lived or worked at Hatfield House, we may be able to provide you with information regarding their life here.

Please download our leaflet: Family History at Hatfield House for more details regarding this.

We prefer to undertake most genealogical enquiries ourselves. If you would like us to look up your ancestors in any of our sources, please read the above leaflet and then fill in our Family History Research Form.

HALS (Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies) is the county record office for Hertfordshire. For contact details of other archives, please see: ARCHON

OUR HATFIELD is a useful site where Hatfield residents can add articles relating to childhood, history and work. The site may be of interest to anyone researching family history, de Havillands and other topics relating to Hatfield.

Guide

1: In order to find anybody in our records, we need to have their name and date of birth. It would help if we had any other names that they were known by and any spelling variations.

2: Details of the dates they lived and worked at Hatfield will help us to decide which source to use and to locate an entry in a relevant source. Please be as specific as possible with regards to date as even searching through a year or two can take a lot of our time. Their occupation will help narrow down our search and may help us to validate any information that we find.

3: Please give as full details as possible in this section, stating sources that you have used and the information that they have told you. If you have used a census to find information please state which one. Please bear in mind that many people lived and worked in areas of Hatfield other than at Hatfield House and Park.

4: If you have any more information regarding your ancestor then please state this here. The more precise and detailed the information we receive, the greater chance we have of locating the relevant information.
