Old Palace
The Old Palace, of about 1485, is one of the foremost examples of medieval brick work in the country and it still retains most of its original roof timbers.
Stable yard has become a retail attraction unto itself at Hatfield House. Buy antiques, gifts, local crafts and books and much more from our shops and relax in an outdoor restaurant do come and see and buy something to remember your visit by.

Real Tennis Courts – Join And Play

The Gift Shop complements the House and grounds with a range of attractive gifts and souvenirs.
A well kept secret and attraction at Hatfield House is a Real Tennis court as played in Henry VIII times. Regular visitors can play and become members should they wish. It is well worth a look-in to see how the old game was played.

The Church and Its Yards

Hatfield Park Farm

Dedicated to St. Etheldreda, the church dates from the 13th century, although little remains of the medieval building. The church contains a monument to Sir Robert Cecil, first Earl of Salisbury as well as the tombs of the Botelers, Brockets, and Reads of Brocket Hall.

Coach House Restaurant

A Henry Moore Exhibition, known as Moore at Hatfield, ran between 23rd April and 30th September 2011, and was the first ever major exhibition of the work of Henry Moore within the grounds of an Historic English House.
You may enjoy your morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea either indoors or outside. There are tables and benches in the Court Yard, high chairs for our young visitors and easy access for wheelchairs. The Coach House Restaurant is being refurbished and will reopen in April 2011

The natural bowl in which the playground sits is named Bloody Hollow and has had this name, or Bloody Dell, for 283 years: our first records of the area are dated 1723
A fantastic family picnic area is available, with seating and tables in a wonderful peaceful country setting, not far from the park and toilet facilities.
