A successful Country Show!

24 August 2010

The Hatfield House Country Show was a great success. The event is building up quite a following, and regular visitors come from as far away as Glasgow. One couple saw the event featured in a tourist magazine and came all the way from Milan!
A successful Country Show!
Highlights of this year's show included the wonderful heavy horse dressage, Apsley End Polo Club's exciting demonstrations of polo in action and of course the guinea pig racing. Miss Hertfordshire opened the show on Friday, and Lord Salisbury took part in the grand parade of 20 steam vehicles which made a wonderful finale. Visitors took the opportunity to bring their family dog for a fun day out too. Matt Baker helped with judging the dog classes, and presented rosettes to the sheep show and pig show winners.

Nick Moorhouse, Director comments: My family's favourite was the Dancing Sheep Show! It was so reassuring to hear visitors talk enthusiastically about their experiences at the Country Show, and we will make the 2011 Show even better than this year's event, particularly as it is an integral part of our 400th birthday celebrations.

Our parks team are working round the clock to prepare the showground for our next large event here at Hatfield House, the Drive in Movies on 3rd, 4th and 5th September, which are proving to be even more popular than last year.
