Emmy’s Brigadeiros opens in Fore Street
Wintry cold weather and pouring rain did not stop a large group from the local Old Hatfield community come out to support the official opening of Emmy’s Brigadeiros in Fore Street.
Emmy’s guests were welcomed with glasses of sparkling wine, delicious coffee supplied by local business Sustain Coffee, and trays of the beautiful delicacy to sample.
Brigadeiros are a delicious, handcrafted traditional Brazilian dessert made of condensed milk, cocoa and butter, finished with chocolate sprinkles for the outer layer.
Emmy’s approach is to always choose ingredients of the highest quality, slowly cooking them before hand-rolling the balls into bite-sized treats of chocolate indulgence, nutty delights and fruit sensations.
Emmy commented:
“At the same time that I fell in love with my Brazilian husband, I also fell in love with the Brigadeiro. When he introduced me to his group of Brazilian friends, I had the opportunity to see that they love partying. One thing came to my attention quickly. There was no party without Brigadeiros. Soon I became a huge fan of them.
It is my mission to introduce this sweet little delicacy to everyone I meet. If you love chocolate and enjoy sweet moments, then you will fall in love with Brigadeiros too!”
The shop, which has been beautifully designed by a local architect, was officially opened by the Deputy Mayor of Welwyn and Hatfield, Councillor Lynn Chesterman OBE. The event was well attended by friends and family, and members of the local community.
Emmy made an emotional speech sharing some insight into how she had launched her business and grown it to what it is today and thanked her friends and family for helping and supporting her on her journey.
In her speech to the celebratory party, Councillor Chesterman commented:
“You are not just launching a business, you are adding to the story of our town.”
