Old Hatfield is the best kept secret of Hertfordshire and we have a variety of properties which cater to different requirements within and surrounding the old town.

Hatfield House, owns, lets and manages up to 200 residential properties from the Estate Office in Hatfield Park. The properties range in size and type from period farmhouses and townhouses to former Estate worker’s cottages and modern flats.

Our management team are experienced property professionals who have dealt with a wide variety of challenges. We enjoy long tenancies and a number of our tenants have rented from us for many years. We are loyal to our tenants and are involved in local issues and working closely with the neighbouring private homes.

All of our properties are maintained to a high standard and meet all legislative requirements. Most properties are alarmed, but all are protected by heat/smoke and CO detectors.


Our Buildings department based in the Park, manage a wide range of skilled tradesman who are very familiar with our properties. It is rare, but should you have any major problems we can usually despatch a plumber or an electrician to you on the day.

Out of working office hours, tenants are able to call a dedicated telephone number manned by property professionals that can assist with any property emergencies.

New Refurbishments

We are currently working our way through a residential portfolio refurbishing properties to the high standard that our tenants expect.

We are fortunate that the majority of our tenants enjoy living in Hatfield Park for many years. However when he opportunity does arise to take a property back in hand, we like to breathe 21st century life into it, whilst retaining all architectural and period features.

Commercial Property

We have an attractive portfolio of commercial properties within the Hatfield Park and surrounding villages, providing a spacious environment for your business.

Many of our Commercial tenants are already enjoying the advantages of a prestigious location away from the stress of a city working environment – congestion, pollution, and the time taken up with commuting. Our tenants find the attractive environment offers a more conducive working atmosphere, whilst sustaining the benefits of easy access and sophisticated communications.

The Estate recognises the benefit in renovating the beautiful but derelict historic buildings, traditional barns and stable blocks and has seen a growing demand for these converted business units. Work is carried out using the highest quality specifications, ensuring original features are maintained but also ensuring all the necessary technology for today’s business is in place. Telephone, fibre optics, computer and cabling systems, satellite links, broadband and zoned security alarms can all be installed.

The office portfolio comprises properties ranging from 500 sq ft units to 10,000 sq ft in both traditional commercial districts as well as a number of converted stables and barns in more rural settings. A large portfolio of offices, warehousing, workshops and business units are now available, with an ongoing programme continuing to add further unique properties every year.

What We Need From You

We want to welcome tenants who care about their local community and where they live. Once we are certain that one of our properties will meet your needs we will arrange a viewing. If you wish to secure one of our properties we ask for one weeks rent as a holding deposit. This ‘holds’ the property for you whilst we conduct references. Once your references have been received satisfactorily, we will write and formally offer you the property. At this point a move in date will be agreed, and the legal paperwork will be drawn up.

When you are ready to sign the lease we ask for two months deposit and one month’s rent in cleared funds.

Pets are allowed at the discretion of the landlord. Pet owners will be have to sign a Waver before occupancy.

Living in Hatfield

Old Hatfield is a charming, quiet, traditional peg tiled village with narrow roads leading up to Hatfield House. To the West is St. Albans, the South is Potters Bar and to the North is Welwyn Garden City.

St Etheldreda’s Church stands proudly looking down over Old Hatfield and has been serving the community since the 13th Century.

Hatfield train station is conveniently located opposite the entrance of Hatfield Park and allows fast access to London and the East Coast. Hop off at Kings Cross, follow the signs to St Pancras – you can be in Paris is 2½ hours, or if you are heading North you could be in York in 1½ hours.

The major motorways are all within 15 minutes drive; A1 to the North, the A10 to Hertford and the M10/M1 from Luton.

The University of Hertfordshire provides an all-encompassing support system for academics and sportsmen alike. There are two swimming pools within a short drive of Hatfield Park, and there is an excellent golf course closeby at Mill Green. At Welwyn Garden City Stanborough Lakes offer water sports and sailing clubs throughout the year. Gosling Sports hosts a diverse range of sports and leisure facilities and is one of the most comprehensive and prestigious developments of its kind in the UK.

The Hatfield Galleria boasts a multiplex cinema, an abundance of outlet shops and a good choice of restaurants. Cheap parking makes the visit highly affordable. A short drive away is Welwyn Garden City, one of the first new towns which has John Lewis, M&S, and Debenhams.
